Welcome to My Personal Page
We ride memory of Poppa, as her grandpa was known to Maya, my daughter. Family and friends called him B.J, and it's in his memory that we ride – as we also remember and honor friends of ours who have encountered the challenges of a brain tumor diagnosis.
When my daughter, Maya, was four years old, my father (her grandfather) was diagnosed a glioblastoma brain tumor. During the year and a half of his illness, she sat on his lap while they played animal lotto and she giggled at the awesome animal sounds my dad made as they played. My memories of my dad, B.J., stretch back more than 60 years and encompass precious moments together. My dad was my biggest backer. He was with me for every step I took even when my steps were unconventional or unexpected.
Join B.J.'s Team by riding with us or by contributing in support of our ride. This will be our 20th year riding as B.J.'s Team in this event. And when we ride I always remember the times when my dad told me how much he wanted to help others who were afflicted with a brain tumor, especially children.
For many of you, this will be your 20th year with us on B.J.'s Team. We are grateful that you've been with us either on the ride or in spirit for all of the miles we've biked on our annual Brain Tumor Rides. For those of you joining B.J.'s Team for the first time, we welcome and thank you.
We ride to fulfill my dad's wish. Our ride is successful only when you join us on B.J.'s Team. All best, Melissa
