Colorado Brain Tumor Walk & Race

Sharing Hope

SHARING HOPE

On September 28th, Team Sharing Hope will participate for the 18th time in a brain tumor walk. This year team Sharing Hope is participating in the Colorado Brain Tumor Walk & Race.

We walk in memory of Shannon Kay Bruce. Shannon played many roles in life:  daughter, sister, wife, mother, cousin, teacher, counselor, and FRIEND to all who met her. Shannon's first grandchild was born in September 2022. Sadly she never met her grandson, Aiden. She is the spirit of and inspiration for our team. Shannon is deeply missed and will remain in our hearts forever. Her tumor returned in March 2017, and she fought bravely with faith, hope, and courage until her passing on February 25, 2022.

Team Sharing Hope raised funds and participated in the Second Annual Dallas/Fort Worth Angel Adventure Walk in November 2007. That was just 5 months after Shannon’s awake brain surgery. She began her legacy of fundraising while she was still receiving treatment. Sharing Hope has participated in every brain tumor walk held in Fort Worth since then. Even when COVID stopped in-person walks, Sharing Hope participated virtually. Now that a walk is not held in Texas, we participate in the Colorado walk.

Our wish is to continue to spread HOPE the way Shannon did. To encourage others to participate in this event and to raise funds to fight the fight and ultimately find a cure.

The following are Shannon’s words from when she created  Team Sharing Hope on October 3, 2007.

“The proceeds from the walk support brain tumor research and patient services at the National Brain Tumor Foundation*. I have started a team named, “Sharing Hope.” If you are interested in walking with us, please go to the website and sign up to be on our team. If you are unable to walk with us, I would be thrilled for you to sponsor me or someone on my team.”

Her words are still true today. We would love for you to join Team Sharing Hope and walk with us. However, if you can not join us, please sponsor someone on our team and donate to the National Brain Tumor Society. I will close as Shannon always did,

“With a Grateful Heart,”
