Welcome to My Personal Page
Father's Day weekend 2015, our lives changed forever when Smit suffered a seizure, which led to the startling diagnosis of a malignant, golf-ball sized brain tumor whom we unaffectionately dubbed "Jerry."Smit courageously gave his all against Jerry for over four long years. Our oncologist, who treated Smit throughout our entire journey with Jerry, called me the day after Smit passed away to offer his sincerest condolences and dismally stated, "Four years is not long enough."
Those words will forever ring in my ears and reign true for our story. This disease took so many future memories from Smit, and from our family.
But together we can continue the fight against brain tumors to change this ending, by raising vital funds that can one day prevent families from enduring the devastation this disease too often currently brings.
Thus, I have never been more passionate about a cause. Thankfully, the National Brain Tumor Society will not rest until a cure exists. But so much more must be done in the way of research and clinical trials to stop this disease, and very soon. I implore you to join in my effort, and I thank you from the bottom of the Smittys' hearts for doing so.
This is our Seventh Year as Team Eff Jerry, and our hearts continue to be so full with gratitude. We hope you all will join us on race day, Sunday November 3rd this year in Bryan Park.
Let's walk/run as we raise these funds, and then let's toast to many great memories of our dear Smit as we look toward a world where we've cured brain tumors forever.
Much Love and Prayers for Good Health for All,
Stine and Norah
