Hope by the Bay

In May 2007 I participated in my first Race for Hope in Washington, D.C. in honor of my father, who had been battling an aggressive brain tumor for 3 years. Less than 2 months later, my dad lost that war. Barry Recht was exuberant and he truly loved life and everyone in it (and everyone in his life returned that love). His death was crushing and it left an unfillable hole in our world. I turned the grief and loss into focus and hope, and dragged a crowd of friends and family along with me as we fundraised for and ran the Race for Hope DC for 10 years, and then took the show on the road to San Francisco. Since 2007, my amazing teams have raised over $250,000 for brain tumor research and patient and caregiver support. Let's make it an even $300K this year, shall we?

Somehow, this year I find myself again the co-chair of the planning committee for the local event and also a proud member of the national board of directors, so don't make me look bad here. Need a solid team and some legit fundraising dollars to be able to show my face on event day and thereafter. Please join us, whether in person, in spirit or via your wallet, for this 18th year participating in an event for the National Brain Tumor Society. Every penny gives patients and their families hope and every million gets us closer to a world where brain tumors are not a death sentence. Help me spread hope and save lives.

I am uniting with others to make a difference in the fight against brain tumors. I am passionate about this cause, so I’m taking action. I need your help in this fight. National Brain Tumor Society will not rest until a cure exists - but more needs to be done. Please join in my effort!
