Dear friend,
As many of you may know, I lost my dear friend Rich Hassler to a brain tumor in August of 2019. It is difficult to put into words how deeply this loss has been felt by all those whose lives he may have touched. The past two years we honored his memory by fighting to eradicate Brain Tumors joining the National Brain Tumor Society “Ride for Research”. Although the ride had been modified due to Covid-19, our team soldiered on enjoying our own modified rides covering the shores of Cape Ann. Many of you helped “Team Monst” raised $24,000 in Rich’s memory. This year I am also inviting his friends, relatives, co-workers and anyone whose life he may have touched to join us Sunday May 15th to ride for a cure. Just follow this link and sign up.
I will again share our “Ride for Research” story. Way back in 2004 Rich and I were recruited to join then Team SolidWorks for our first Pan Mass Challenge. Neither of us had ever ridden in a structured ride never mind a 192-mile two-day event. So, in preparation we targeted the Boston Brain Tumor Ride as a tune up. I remember dusting off my old Specialized steel framed behemoth, Rich his old Cannondale steed that cold, wet May morning 2004 in Waltham. It was our first of many rides together over the past 16 years. Our last ride together was in 2019. Rich was unaware of the Glioblastoma growing in his brain that morning in May. The tumor took him from us forever swiftly one evening in August. That last ride with him in May will never be forgotten.

If you would like to Join "Team Monst" as a rider the event is open to riders of all skill levels. The "ride for research" ride will take place Sunday May 15th, departing from Waltham, we will cover the 40 miles at an easy pace.
