Welcome to "Progressive" Pierce's National Brain Tumor Ride '24 Page!
No one expects to be struck with a debilitating brain tumor just 2 weeks after graduating college as a young adult. I didn't for sure.
The brain tumor indicator for me was a severe headache, This was for someone who never gets headaches and has a relatively high discomfort threshold.
As the treatments ensued, my abilities declined through 2018. I lost all physical and cognitive abilities.
With the help of my many doctors at Beth Israel Medical Center and the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, I learned to walk and talk again. I was then able to receive a life saving stem cell transplant and proton beam radiation.
My first reintroduction back into biking was through the Spaulding Adaptive Sports Centers. Starting on a recumbent bike indoors on rollers, I progressed to a fat tire mountain bike 2 years later. I soon fell in love with recreational sports, especially biking!
I am riding in my first National Brain Tumor Ride this year to support the advancement of medical knowledge in the prevention and treatment of brain tumors. Please contribute what you are able to in support of a great cause!
I am passionate about the NBTS mission to conquer and cure brain tumors — once and for all. NBTS needs your support. With your help, we can make a difference in the lives of those living with a brain tumor.
