Dear Family and Friends,

Here I go again chairing the Carolina Brain Tumor Walk & Race! This will be the 10th anniversary of the event & my 10th year volunteering for the National Brain Tumor Society! The 2024 annual Carolina event will be held on April 13 at Community House Middle School. 

Why do I continue to chair this event, as well as my involvement with NBTS? My late husband, Steven, was diagnosed with GBM - Glioblastoma Multiforme IV on February 12, 2009. Following an incredible journey, his battle ended on December 11, 2010 -- he was just 56 years old with two teenage children. He was a hero to many as he fought valiantly for 22 months to stay with his family. He never complained as he forged ahead with various treatments, and maintained an "Attitude of Gratitude" until his last breath -- Steven recognized each day as a blessing. He never worried about himself but was always saddened to learn of another person diagnosed with a brain tumor. As he watches over us all, I know he is happy to see me continue our fight for a cure, new treatment options, and brain tumor awareness. 

Please join me, as we not only raise money for research and the cure but honor survivors, family members, caregivers, and those who are no longer with us in the Carolina brain tumor community.

Do this not only for my Steven and our family, but for so many others who have been or will be diagnosed with this horrific disease! We must find a cure....we must eradicate this disease so that one day a husband and dad may hear "you have a brain tumor....but we got this! We have a cure!"
