Meet Rosemary Barret
Please join me in the fight against brain tumors with the National Brain Tumor Society in memory of my aunt, Rosemary Barrett. I lost my aunt to a Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) on August 12, 2023. Rosemary was 69 years old. GMB is an aggressive form of brain cancer that I never heard until when Stage 4 swept through my aunt’s body, and took her final breath away in 6 short weeks. The sadness of her leaving the family was so abrupt.
All Rosemary wanted was to leave the hospital and go home, but instead she endured the Craniotomy surgery that was supposed to bring her home to Little Ferry, NJ. Rosemary loved the Jersey Shore, read her books there, and drank her Gin and Tonics in peace. Basically, this was her happy place!
It was insane to think that after Rosemary's retirement in November 2022 that her hopes and dreams waiting would not come to any fruition. This was a difficult thing to grasp after building a career for herself and always welcoming a future including years in retirement. One thing that I have learned on my caregiving journey with my aunt Rosemary was this, there was NO summer for our family when a member is battling any deadly cancer especially GMB.
Life is short--give it meaning everyday!
I will bring my aunt Rosemary's fighting Irish spirit with me come May 11, 2024 to the beach in Asbury Park, NJ! Will you consider a donation to Team Rosemary to help my family reach our fundraising goal? Every dollar raised gets us one step closer to a breakthrough and a cure.
