Hello Friends and Family,
Yes, it's that time of year again . . . time for the Brain Tumor Walk! This is our 17th year we've participated in this fundraiser. This year's walk is on Saturday, Sept 28, 2024 at Sloan Lake.
It's been 16 1/2 yrs since our daughter Mindy was diagnosed with a malignent brain tumor at the age of 30!
Our daughter, Mindy Baumer, is the Captain of this team. In 2007, Mindy was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Through radiation, chemo, prayer and the Blessings of God, her tumor shrunk from the size of an orange to the size of a pea!
In 2020, during COVID shutdowns, Mindy went in for her 6-Month MRI checkup to assess any changes with her tumor. The doctors saw some change in the size of tumor, not sure if it was scar tissue or cancer growth. So, since the tumor was now "operable", Mindy had surgery in July 2020 to remove all, or most of the the tumor. She initially lost her ability to speak, as all the words were "caught up" in her head. Through therapy and lots of hard work, Mindy persevered and has regained most of her speaking ability. She also had to relearn how to drive, multi-task, and carry on a normal conversation.
The past 7 MRI's have shown that the tumor CANNOT BE FOUND! Praise the Lord!!! MIndy is a walking and talking miracle. We are so blessed!
I am passionate about finding a cure for cancer and specifically, Brain Tumors. That is why I ask for your donation. I would love for you to come and walk with us, and all of Mindy's supporters, family and friends!
May God Bless you all! Stay well, stay safe.
Funds raised at the Brain Tumor Walk help to direct promising research, support families who are currently coping with the effects of a brain tumor diagnosis, and advocate for change.
I have joined this movement to bring the issue of brain tumors to the forefront. Progress is being made, but there is so much more to be done. Thank you for your support of my efforts!
