Daniel Rhoads grew up loving cars and was a brother to six siblings. He
also loved bikes and as a child he and his best friend would take apart
the bikes and put them back together to see how they worked. As the
jokester of the family that he was, he told us so many pranks that he
did and all the stories that he had from his childhood. One winter, when
he was a kid, he got his baby sister, Kim, to lick the railing outside
and she got stuck just like in the movie A Christmas Story. Another
story is that one time, when Dan was walking on the frozen lake near his
home, he had suddenly dropped through the ice and started waiving his
arms around trying to keep his head above the water. He remembered
having the idea of going down to the bottom of the lake and pushing up
with his feet to try to get out of the water. As soon as he went down
and put his feet to the ground to jump up, he realized that he could
stand and that the water only reached up to his knees. He recalled
hearing his father laughing so hard from the house watching how shocked
Dan was to see how shallow the water was. During his senior year of high
school, he moved to California and years later created his own business
of dent removal and car restoration. Some of the customers he had known
since the start of his business had turned into his life long friends.
In September of 2020 Dan was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma. He
had recovered quickly after his surgery and was able to go back to work a
while later. He enjoyed spending time with his youngest daughter who
would go to work with him and loved teaching her and his wife how to
work on cars. He also loved spending time with his oldest daughter and
seeing what a wonderful mother she has become. Dan said how he had
wanted to be like his father, a man he had idolized and seen as his
hero. In many ways he was just like his father, a loving husband who was
kind, selfless, devoted, witty, humble, and a craftsman. Dan felt
Colorado was his home as he had so many wonderful memories growing up
there and wanted to be close to his siblings again. Shortly after moving
back to Colorado in October of 2021, he had passed away surrounded by
his loved ones. He lived a beautiful life and will always be loved,
remembered, and cherished in all our hearts. Dan was such a strong
individual in so many ways and will forever be our Mighty Mouse. We miss
him dearly and know that he’s always with us by our side.
