Let's Do Some Good!
I am running in honor of my cousins (Shannon, Lisa, Tiffany, and Eileen), who lost their father/husband to Glioblastoma. Dr. Wayne Bausch was larger than life. He was a successful dentist owning his own practice for decades (giving me my first cleaning at the sight of my first tooth), a beloved family man, and he was very active and healthy. Wayne had the best smile (no surprise there), a memorable laugh, he loved to travel and always had the best advice.
This is why in 2013, his GBM diagnosis took our entire large Italian family by surprise. It didn't seem possible that Wayne could have a brain tumor. We quickly learned that brain tumors don't discriminate and can happen to anyone at any time. Wayne's journey was devastating and lasted less than a year (although, in true Wayne fashion, he made the absolute most of his last months). He passed away in June 2014. After learning about GBM, I started hearing about it, and other brain tumors, from other people I know. One of my dearest friends has had multiple family members affected by GBM.
That is why I am grateful for, and support, NBTS. I chose this organization because I deeply appreciate the work that they do, the support they offer, and their phenomenal team. NBTS is committed to defeating brain tumors and improving the quality of patients’ lives. NBTS unrelentingly invest in, mobilize, and unite the brain tumor community to discover a cure, deliver effective treatments, and advocate for patients and caregivers.
Please consider joining my team, a small donation, or help spreading awareness for the valuable resources that NBTS has to offer.
With gratitude,
Courtney
