***JOIN THE POSITIVE PARTY***
We are uniting with others to make a difference in the fight against brain tumors. We need your help in this fight. National Brain Tumor Society will not rest until a cure exists - but more needs to be done. Please join in our effort!
In July 2018, 11-year-old Annalise Piano went for a routine eye exam. An MRI was ordered the next day and within 24 hours, Annalise was having emergent surgery to remove a brain tumor. Right from the initial diagnosis, Annalise chose to remain POSITIVE.
Although her surgery was a success, Annalise experienced side effects including 7th nerve palsy on one side of her face, double-vision, and other issues related to coordination. For more than five months, she worked hard in physical, occupational, and speech therapy. The hard work continues to reward her -- now 16 yrs old, Annalise has achieved high honor throughout middle school and high school, has maintained a 4.0 GPA, accepted her 10-year trophy for dancing, was awarded 2021 Get Up Champion by the United States Figure Skating Federation, student teaches dance classes, continues to figure skate competitively, and has her drivers permit!
Annalise makes the conscious choice to give back. Upon the first anniversary of her surgery, Annalise created her own team of 41 members, “Positive Party,” to walk in the Long Island Brain Tumor Walk in September 2019. Since then, Team Positive Party has raised more than $8,000 for the National Brain Tumor Society. Annalise has bravely given a survivor speech at both the 2019 and 2022 events, sharing her message with over 1500 attendees.
Annalise is an inspiration and truly shows us the POWER OF POSITIVITY on a daily basis. She has been fortunate to overcome many of the obstacles resulting from her brain tumor. Annalise's is one of the best case scenarios. For many others, the fight is much more significant and daunting.
We want to help find a cure.
