On August 9th, 2017 life as we knew it came to a screeching halt as we were presented with an unfavorable MRI image.  At age 50, Kevin O'Neill had a mass on his brain which turned out to be Glioblastoma.

If you think this is a rare occurrence, here are some quick facts:

• ​700,000 Americans are living with a primary brain tumor
• 88,970 Americans will receive a brain tumor diagnosis this year
• 18,200 Americans will pass from a malignant brain tumor this year
• The 5 year survival rate for Glioblastoma is only 6.8% and the median survival is 8 months

Tragically, brain tumors also affect children:

• ​13,657 American children are living with a primary brain tumor
• 4,170 children will receive a brain tumor diagnosis this year
• Brain tumors are the most common solid cancer in children ages 0-14 years

These stats are not meant to scare you but rather to inspire you to join our cause.  The National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) is working diligently to fund brain tumor research and we invite you to donate.

The day of the MRI, I was encouraged during my visit to Chick-fil-A with the scripture that reads the following:

Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.  Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.  Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

Our hearts are forever broken but we praise God for Kevin's ultimate healing.  And we vow to continue the fight against brain tumors so that those who come behind us will walk a different path.  Thank you for joining us!
