On March 9, 2021, I lost my mom after a four-month battle with brain cancer.
My mom was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM), one of the most complex, deadly, and treatment-resistant cancers. The five-year survival rate for glioblastoma patients is only 6.9% and the average length of survival for patients is estimated to be only 8 months. Survival rates and mortality statistics for GBM have been virtually unchanged for decades.
My mom was my best friend and I miss her every single day.
