Tumor Tacklers
In 2014, Tumor Tacklers, named by Maggie Lasher, walked together at the first Long Island Brain Tumor Walk. Since then, we have raised over $35,000 towards finding a cure. The inspiration for this team, Jon-Michael Lasher, was diagnosed in 2009 and bravely fought his tumor for ten years. Through three craniotomies, radiation and multiple courses of chemotherapy, he never lost his will to live or optimistic outlook. Jon shared his story, rallied around other brain tumor warriors and always found the strength to share a smile and kind word with those he met. His warm smile and gentle brown eyes immediately made everyone feel like a friend. Jon was a talented musician, teacher and administrator, but was most proud of his beautiful and talented children, Maggie and Tom, who bravely shared in this journey with courage and grace. As a family, we will continue to honor Jon's memory and dedication to finding a cure by supporting the New York Brain Tumor Walk on September 30, 2023.
