Cal was a very special person. He was a loving husband to Barbara for over 41 years. He was a loving son, stepson, brother, uncle, cousin and generous father to his two daughters. Cal was a loyal friend to all. He was also an animal lover and nurtured many cats and dogs.

Cal loved to learn. He studied music as a child and became a talented trumpet player. While in college he decided to study medical technology. He worked in that field for over 40 years.

At age 65, Cal was seized with a brain tumor. His June surgery was successful at Mercy Medical Center, but we soon learned that the tumor was malignant. After six weeks of radiation treatment in the hyperbaric chamber at Winthrop Hospital, Cal had begun his recovery and rehabilitation. But oral chemo treatments at home became a problem when Cal developed a serious allergy to the chemo drug. Working with his neuro-oncologists and allergists, he received treatments in and out of the hospital to try to get his body to tolerate the chemo drug. The treatments were not successful and in June of 2012 the tumor reappeared. This time it was inoperable. Unfortunately we lost Cal in July of 2012, three days shy of his 67th birthday.
