Gray Matters - Joe Murray Team Page
While Joe's initial tumor was removed in April 2023 via emergency craniotomy, we recently learned in August 2024 that another tumor is forming, this time closer to his sensory cortex which makes removal more challenging.
Fortunately, the FDA very recently approved a new chemotherapy drug called Vorasidenib - meant specifically for his tumor type (Astrocytoma with IDH mutation) - the same week that his tumor recurrence was discovered. He is one of the first patients at John's Hopkins using this new treatment, and we are praying for a miracle.
It is fundraisers like the Race for Hope that help fund research for these types of treatments. Today, there is still no known cure for brain cancer, and we will not rest until one is found. Please join us in our fight.
National Brain Tumor Society is fiercely committed to finding a cure for brain tumors. They are aggressively driving strategic research; advocating for public policies that meet the critical needs of the brain tumor community; and providing comprehensive patient, family and caregiver resources. Your support ensures this important work will continue.
