Welcome to My Personal Page
Hi All,
Some of the best and most fulfilling moments of my life occurred during a 17 month span in 2012-2014. During this time, I was able to make almost monthly visits to Puerto Rico to spend time with, support, and offer care to the best of my ability to a very special lady, my Aunt Vicki. One might think that 17 years is a big age difference, but I never once felt that it was. Aunt Vicki was a kindred spirit. I'll never forget any of the time we spent together, the conversations we had, or the MANY laughs we shared. She was more than an aunt to me, she was a friend, mentor, partner in crime, and like a sister I always wanted. I don't know how to explain it but she was just the kind of person who could make you feel special and loved. She showed me what it really meant to fight a battle and be brave. It was very obvious she had a profound effect on everyone she knew.
In 2013, I created our team, Vicki's Brainiacs, as a way to honor her and others who are and were fighting brain cancer. She was able to physically participate in 2013 and virtually in 2014. Though it breaks my heart that she is gone and can't be with us, our team will be walking in celebration and memory of her -- she will be with us in spirit. I made a promise to her that I would participate in this event for as long as I live, and that I will do.
If any of you are willing or able to donate, join or support our team in any way, I would greatly appreciate your generosity.
Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and support of Team Vicki's Brainiacs!
