Welcome to My Personal Page
My sweet brother was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in October 2010. He fought hard for 8 years, through multiple rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and experimental treatments. He lost his battle April 19, 2018. Chris never gave up hope and was determined to make a difference.
People used to call my brother Mr. Happy. A true eagle scout, Chris was friendly, helpful, loyal, and kind to everyone that crossed his path. Chris spread so much joy, even in his final days. In hospice care, he would buzz his nurse in simply for a hug. His smile was the best with his huge dimples and his ability to make you laugh so hard, your face would hurt and you'd have tears streaming down your face. Chris was my light and it is my mission to bring this light to others. Our mission through the Race for Hope is to give those that need light, Hope, through further brain tumor research.
A story from our first Race for Hope in 2014: When I watched my brother cross that finish line our very first Race for Hope… it was amazing. He walked the whole way, slowly but surely, with quiet determination. It was really tough for him. I ran back, along with many of my teammates, to finish the race by his side. I don’t think my smile has ever been quite as large as we finished the race, arm in arm. They announced Chris’ name, a survivor!, as he walked by. I decorated Chris’ shirt with one of our favorite song lyrics, Run Like An Antelope-Phish, that has always kept us truckin’ through life. The announcer read the lyric off his shirt as he spoke to Chris saying, “Set the gear shift for the high gear of your soul. You’ve got to run like an antelope, out of control.” Then, he asked Chris if he ran today. My brother’s response could not have been more perfect. He said, “Well, I wasn't able to actually run......I walked, but in my heart....I was running.”
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, SMILE! :) We love you, Chris.
Thank you all for your donations. It truly changes lives.
Love,
Kelianne
