As you all probably know, my beautiful mother, Surrie, was taken from us on July 25, 2016 after a 9 month battle with brain cancer. This horrible disease takes thousands of lives every year and as my family and I had to experience, will change your life forever.
The one positive thing I can take from that experience is the outpouring of love and support we received from family, friends, teachers, coworkers, acquaintainces, and even people we haven't talked to in years.
Last year we had a fantastic turnout for this race that ultimately benefitted this foundation with the goal of curing brain cancer for good, and this year we hope to be able to do the same. I would love to make this into a yearly tradition to celebrate my mom's life and bring everyone she impacted together. Please note, this is a run/walk event, so if you do not feel that you are able to run 3.2 miles, it is totally fine to walk. As I remember from last year, there are PLENTY of people that walked, so you would not be alone.
Of course we would love to have you all run with us, but for those that aren't able to make it, any donation amount helps. For those of you that will be able to make the run please note that we will be doing a brunch after to make up for any calories that we burned during the 5k :)
Thank you for supporting not just my family and I, but all families that have been impacted by this disease. I know my mom would be slightly embarrassed by all of this attention on her, but most importantly she would be grateful and proud. We hope to see you on the 7th!
