Welcome to My Personal Page
Did you know that approximately 25,000 people are diagnosed with a primary malignant brain tumor annually in the US and that the average 5 year survival rate is only 34%? I didn't know very much about this terrible disease until my dad passed away from the most aggressive form of brain tumor, glioblastoma, in 2017.
Watching him decline so rapidly was heart-breaking, but some might say he was one of the lucky ones. More than any other cancer, brain tumors can have life-altering psychological, cognitive, behavioral, and physical effects. Thankfully, my dad didn't suffer from headaches, nausea, or seizures which so commonly affect patients with brain tumors. He maintained his ability to see and hear and speak, and even kept his sense of humor which was so much a part of who he was. Others that we met during his hospitalization were not so fortunate.
That's why I'm joining the Race for Hope in DC; to help raise funds to support innovative research initiatives so that better treatment options, and eventually a cure, can be found. If you're interested in supporting this very worthwhile cause, please consider joining my team either through an online donation or through participation in this virtual event during the month of May. Thank you!
