Welcome to My Personal Page
For the past 17 months, our family has been flipped upside down. In November 2020, William was diagnosed with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma grade III brain tumor. After two brain surgeries, William underwent 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, followed by the standard-of-care chemotherapy for an additional 9 months. We have no idea what the future will be, but we are here today to make a difference for tomorrow. The only way we can help fight the trauma of this terrible disease is to raise more awareness and to fund research efforts in treatment and early detection.
May is gray and we are kicking off the month by walking/running a 5k as a family (with friends) to show support and raise money for the National Brain Tumor Society's (NBTS) Race for Hope-DC.
I created the team 'You'll Never Walk Alone' because Liverpool is William's favorite soccer team, and their slogan means more to us now than ever.
As you know, this is very personal. Supporting this mission is more critical than ever. Please know that no donation is too small. With your help, we can make a difference.
In the past year, I have witnessed the loss of a two friends' spouses and recently a local news anchor, lost her battle with Glioblastoma. The words 'heartbreaking' and 'traumatic' barely skim the surface of emotions.
Thank you for your support! Join our team or please consider donating to this very important cause.
We take nothing for granted and we are grateful for each additional moment we have here on Earth.
Peace be with you,
Laveta, William, Simona and Sybille
