On Sunday, May 5, my family and I will gather together to participate in the Race for Hope in Washington DC. We walk to raise funds for the National Brain Tumor Society in support of all those impacted by brain cancer, but especially for my friend & cousin, Kate Jenkins.
Upon completion of an MRI in August 2023, Kate was notified she needed emergency brain surgery to remove an aggressive brain tumor. Less than 24 hours later, she underwent a craniotomy at Mass General Hospital. She was diagnosed with grade 4 Glioblastoma. Since the end of September, Kate has gone through intensive radiation, aggressive chemo treatments, and other advanced trials in her courageous battle. Her strength has been inspiring as she remains a fearless advocate for brain cancer research and funding, all while she simultaneously fights this incurable cancer and continues to be an incredible mom to her 4-year-old son.
