Marvin's Eviction!
This December, I underwent an emergency craniotomy to remove a large brain tumor. I briefly lost the ability to speak but thought I was being overly cautious in going to the hospital. Instead, the doctors discovered a tangerine sized brain tumor, squishing my frontal lobe and speech center.
I never expected to hear “you have a brain tumor”, but I was soon told it looked like “the good kind of brain tumor”. My luck continued as a brilliant neurosurgeon fully removed my tumor - now named Marvin, the Meningioma - and confirm it was non-cancerous, leaving me with the best outcome possible.
Still, Marvin changed me. I confronted my identity and what makes life worth living. While I never expected to become a brain tumor survivor, here I am.
I’m walking to raise money to support research for all brain tumors. I’m also walking in memory of my grandmother, who was not so lucky and died from glioblastoma.
National Brain Tumor Society is fiercely committed to finding a cure for brain tumors. They are aggressively driving strategic research; advocating for public policies that meet the critical needs of the brain tumor community; and providing comprehensive patient, family and caregiver resources. Your support ensures this important work will continue.
