Joseph “Paul” Rogers’ battle with brain cancer was cut short on February 7, 2022, after living with an Oligodendroglioma brain tumor for 10 years. Joseph “Paul” Rogers accomplished more in his 38 years than most people do in a lifetime. Father, husband, son, and the best big brother in the entire world—Paul lived his life to the fullest, never slowing down or losing sight of his goals. During this time, Paul married his beautiful wife Katie, became a Special Agent for the FBI, ran the Marine Corps Marathon, had a beautiful daughter, and fought brain cancer with surgery, numerous rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, and a clinical trial. Throughout his 10 years with cancer, Paul persevered through the challenges that come along with right frontal lobe brain tumors. Following his initial diagnosis, Paul’s tumor grew five additional times, resulting in new treatments. With each growth, he reassured family and friends that he was going to beat it and that he was battling for a cure—for all brain tumors, not just his own.

In the months leading up to his passing, Paul continued to work, spend time with family, and nurture his boundless friendships. Although Paul’s newest tumor growth was slowly taking his motor function and left him wheelchair-bound, unable to walk or use his left arm, Paul’s spirit and determination never wavered. Until the very end, Paul didn’t lose sight of his goal, to help cure brain cancer. His wife, Katie, said it best, “Paul didn’t lose his battle against brain cancer, but it was cut short. He really won his battle. He lived with cancer for 10 years. He’s always going to be a winner.”

Our team is excited to join forces with the National Brain Tumor Society by participating in 2024 Race for Hope-DC on May 5, 2024. For the THIRD year in a row, please join us immediately after the race at a park near the Rogers' home (same place as last year!) If you are new to Team PR, we will send email updates as the event approaches! Bring your own chairs and drinks! We will have a food truck here for everyone to purchase lunch and share awesome memories of Paul! Parking is open around the neighborhood so feel free to park wherever you find a space. Kids are welcome!
