"Pavone's Pinstripes" - In honor of Neal A. Pavone

Please join our effort and become a virtual team member or donate today!

Because our team will not be attending the event in Washington, DC - we will be holding our own gathering for those local to Western NY. Should you choose to join us, the race will begin at:

9:00am on Sunday, May 5 at North Ponds Park in Webster, NY.

Come dressed ready to run and have some fun as we "Race 4 Hope" together!

Our Story:

On May 5, 2024 our team will participate in our 6th 5K Race for Hope DC to benefit the National Brain Tumor Society.  For the past 5 years, team captains Lisa Griffin and Katey Tonzelli, have run the Race for Hope as individuals... but this year we have formalized Team Pavone's Pinstripes in honor of our late father Neal A. Pavone.

In January 2017 our father was suddenly diagnosed with a terminal and incurable form of brain cancer, Glioblastoma. After five months of providing his care as he went through aggressive chemo and radiation therapy, Dad passed away, leaving behind his wife, three daughters, son-in-laws, and four (now five) grandchildren.

Pavone's Pinstripes is dedicated to helping others who have been affected by Glioblastoma, and all forms of Brain Tumors.  By joining forces with the National Brain Tumor Society, we can all make an impact!

NBTS unrelentingly invests in, mobilizes, and unites the brain tumor community to discover a cure, deliver effective treatments, and advocate for patients and caregivers.  While the NBTS hosts many events nationwide, we choose to participate in the Race for Hope DC as it is followed by the NBTS "Head to the Hill" event in which race participants return to Capitol Hill to share personal stories about their brain tumor experience and advocate for the federal government to make strategic investments in brain tumor research and address other critical issues affecting the brain tumor community.

Thank you for considering your participation and/or donation to this event. As Katey and I like to say, "This year and every year, I run for you, Dad!"
