Race For Hope DC

Team Woollum

Our team is excited to join the National Brain Tumor Society by participating in the 2024 Race for Hope on May 5, 2024.

In February 2013 we lost my dad to a brain tumor called Glioblastoma multiforme. It is the most common and most aggressive malignant primary brain tumor in humans. We are doing this race in his honor.

CJ Woollum, 64, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 after a 7 month battle with cancer. Known locally (in Newport News, VA) for building a legacy at Christopher Newport University, he is remembered for his competitive spirit and never-ending capacity to help others. Professionally, CJ won more than 500 games over 26 seasons as the Captains Men's Basketball Coach, and in his dual role as the Athletic Director for more than 25 years, he helped transform CNU from a small area college into a Division III national power. He had a positive impact on the lives of thousands of student-athletes, coaches and colleagues. Personally, he was a proud father, brother, companion, uncle, mentor, teacher, and friend.

Thank you for your support!!!!!
