Team Left Brain has registered to participate in the 25th Annual Race for Hope DC. We'd like to invite you to fight alongside us by joining our team!

You may already know, but we wanted to share a little more about why this fight is so personal to us.

Team Left Brain was created in honor of Jean Carol "Dé" Duré. Dé was diagnosed with a Grade 4 GBM in March 2020 (yes, 2020, when the world started to burn due to COVID, we had our own personal fire raging). At 59, and with no previous health problems or warning signs, he had a seizure while at work. Days later, he had brain surgery followed by weeks of radiation and rounds of chemo. Throughout it all, he thanked the Lord each morning, grateful just to see another day. He never complained with our efforts to optimize his health, filling him up with vitamins, placing him on a plant-based diet & trying out intermittent fasting (or starving him as he called it!). Anyone who knew him can attest to the kindness that was in his heart and the forever young spirit in his body. He was always the one to pull you up to the dance floor, give it to you straight and lend a helping hand. He was left-handed, and always joked that lefties were smarter, stronger and better, always stating "Left Brain". Dé rested six months from that nightmare day in March after we granted his last wish of taking him back to his home country of Haiti. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Friend, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and so much more to so many more. He is forever our dancing angel, our brightest star and reminder that lefties really do it better. Team Left Brain walks for him and the other fallen warriors, the survivors and all their loved ones who walk by their sides every day and carry them dear in their hearts.

The Race for Hope DC is a fun, inspirational and family friendly event that supports the National Brain Tumor Society in their mission to conquer and cure brain tumors – once and for all.
