Race For Hope DC

Doug McKay Memorial Team

In March 2022, my dad, Doug McKay, was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a fatal brain cancer with an average survival time of only eight months.

My dad faced his illness with immense courage and spirit. Although he underwent surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, he died less than three months after being diagnosed. I miss my dad every day.

Last year my sister and I raised over $10,000 for brain cancer research. We are so grateful to everyone who supported us and our dad by contributing. This year, my boyfriend Rob and I are participating in another fundraiser 5k. (Carrie is finishing graduate school in North Carolina but would otherwise join!)

Glioblastoma is one of the most deadly and treatment-resistant cancers. Rob and I are very proud to help researchers make progress in the treatment of glioblastoma and other brain tumors.
