Our Why....
In December of 2012, just four months after our wedding, Chris suffered a grand mal seizure and was rushed to the hospital. After undergoing numerous tests, we received the devastating news that he had a brain tumor - a grade II oligodendroglioma. Chris underwent surgery to remove the tumor and made a remarkable recovery, enjoying three years of clear scans. However, in September of 2016, the tumor returned, this time as a much more aggressive and fast-growing grade III anaplastic astrocytoma. Once again, he underwent surgery, this time accompanied by chemotherapy and radiation. Today, he undergoes regular MRI scans to monitor for any recurrence, and we are thrilled to report that all scans have been clear. Unfortunately, Chris was forced to give up his job due to daily headaches, memory loss, and his inability to focus for long periods of the time. However, overall, he is doing well. We owe his progress to the tireless efforts of VCU Massey Cancer Center, Johnston Willis, and the fundraisers for research. This cause is incredibly close to our hearts and our family, and we implore you to consider running in Chris's honor, or donating to the cause. We are forever grateful for all the prayers, thoughts, and donations that have helped us along the way. ❤
