Welcome to Team JohnnyPete - Glioblastoma Awareness (Brain Cancer)
We are extremely thankful for everyone who donated or participated to help us reach and exceed our fundraising goal, though we did not hit it at this time, we’re still working towards it each and every day. So, continue to donate as a cure is around the corner with your help! It is also so hard to believe that Oct marks one year since Johnny’s passing.
I am uniting with others to make a difference in the fight against brain tumors. I am passionate about this cause, so I’m taking action. I need your help in this fight. National Brain Tumor Society will not rest until a cure exists - but more needs to be done. Please join in my effort! This is what I am focusing my energy on and will not stop.
A normal Saturday morning, Johnny drove to Home Depot to help a Widow friend of ours, and put up a mailbox...I receive phone call at 9:30 from Johnny saying he didn't feel well and was going home and sounded very confused. I pressed for him to tell me what's wrong but he wasn't able to really share, and just said he is going home and will see me at the house.
I was doing a walk with our friends for Awareness of Haiti needing water filtration systems and didn't get home till noon. Johnny was not there. I called his cell phone and the ER Nurse answered and said I need to speak with the ER Doctor. If you can imagine, I was besides myself.
Johnny had several seizures while driving his truck, he loved so much and crashed into a guardrail.
Rescue Squad brought Johnny to Johnston Willis and well, a cross section of the brain was done giving us a prognosis of Grade IV Glioblastoma (GBM for Short). THERE IS NO CURE!
Our brains are like jello, so you can't just go in digging around as it would affect other areas of a bodies function.
You become a caregiver overnight, and life is never the same. MY GOAL IS TO MAKE GLIOBLASTOMA/BRAIN CANCER AWARENESS JUST AS PREVALENT AS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS. Though patients do not live long once diagnosed compared to those diagnosed with breast cancer, it is my goal to get info out about this and to gain as much support for research as possible.
PLEASE help me in honoring my husband of 33 years by giving what you can and even WALKING with me on Saturday, NOV 5.
National Brain Tumor Society is fiercely committed to finding a cure for brain tumors. They are aggressively driving strategic research; advocating for public policies that meet the critical needs of the brain tumor community; and providing comprehensive patient, family and caregiver resources. Your support ensures this important work will continue.
