Welcome to My Personal Page
Our daughter, Joyce Stankiewicz, was such a beautiful young woman who loved her life as wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Then after a few weeks struggling with an unrelenting headache, she went to the doctor because she was expecting to host a huge family dinner for Christmas which was only 3 days away, and she needed to feel better.
Instead, she learned that she had a deadly brain tumor. She underwent surgery on Christmas Eve 2006. Tearfully, she faced the awful reality that she would not be able to watch her three children grow up. They were only in Kindergarten, First, and Second grades. We lost Joyce after 26 months. She walked in the Race for Hope in November 2008 and died just weeks later. She wanted to make a difference.
We want to make a difference too. We choose to honor and remember the many brave souls who have faced this awful disease. Please give whatever you can afford to fund brain tumor research so that one day there will be effective treatments that will bring hope to anyone diagnosed with brain cancer.
We are grateful for your support.
Over 25,000 Americans will be diagnosed with brain cancer this year, and 16,000 of them will die of it. The 5-year survival rate is less than 5% for a Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), the most common form of brain cancer that killed Joyce. Brain cancer is also the number one cancer killer of children under the age of 14. Help us find a cure so that if someone you love is diagnosed, they will survive this disease.
National Brain Tumor Society is fiercely committed to finding a cure for brain tumors. They are aggressively driving strategic research; advocating for public policies that meet the critical needs of the brain tumor community; and providing comprehensive patient, family and caregiver resources. Your support ensures this important work will continue.
