RACE FOR HOPE PHILADELPHIA
Sunday, October 13, 2024
We will Race for Hope in memory of our father, Lawrence "Larry" A. Sengstack. Larry was our father and a Racer! After his family his passion in life was cars and racing. He raced NHRA ProStock for years and you would always find a race on the TV! Its this passion that was are bringing with us to the fight and why joining this Race is important to our family and hope to have you join with us!
December 2015, days after Thanksgiving dinner, our father was diagnosed with a Gleoblastoma which was inoperable due to the position and size. Our best hopes were aggressive chemo & radiation to buy time. The doctors felt maybe we would get 2 years more. But unfortunately the damage and deficiencies he experienced from the biopsies were only expected to improve minimally. But he was determined and was going to do everything he could to get better! A short 3 months was all we received. The treatments proved too much and we lost him February 2016, only days of finishing his last chemo & radiation.
We are Racing for Hope that through advocacy and research there will be heightened awareness, earlier detection and medical advancements will prevent other families from being blind sided the way our family was. Our father went to the doctor for a vision problem that he thought was going to be corrected no problem! Next thing we knew he was hospitalized and the our race started. It was after the diagnosis we wanted answers and couldn't help but to look back at the potential signs that were never given another thought over the years. No one should have to second guess and wonder with countless 'what ifs'.
So we are uniting with others to make a difference in the fight against brain tumors. We are passionate about this cause, so taking action. We need your help in this fight!!
National Brain Tumor Society will not rest until a cure exists - but more needs to be done. Please join in our effort!
Thank you and Hope to see you Race Day!
