Race for Hope Greater Philadelphia

Team Jess

Jess Finlayson was diagnosed in 2018 at the age of 26 with AA3 brain tumor. Jess was an 8th grade Math teacher and Varsity Volleyball coach at Northampton Area School District in Pennsylvania. After 3 craniotomies, radiation and chemo, Jess's tumor morphed into a Glioblastoma (GBM). Jess fought hard in 2020 with many surgeries and treatments but lost her battle to this horrible disease in January 2021.

Team Jess is participating in National Brain Tumor Society's Race For Hope again this year, in memory of Jess. In 2020 the event was virtual and Jess actually walked with us. After Jess passed, we did another virtual event in 2021. In 2022, Erik, Jean, Becca Rosten (Jess's roommate from college) and her husband Mike ran the 5K in Philadelphia. In 2023, Erik, Jean, Becca and our friends Deb & Keith ran with us.

This year the race has been moved to Cooper River Park in Camden County, NJ. Please consider WALKING OR RUNNING the 5K for Team Jess on October 13th, or do your own VIRTUAL walk/run and support our team!

The National Brain Tumor Society is committed to conquering and curing brain tumors -- once and for all.
