Jess's Brain Trainers

Meet team Jess’s Brain Trainers, as told by team co-captain Melissa Farry.

Jess Evans is from Northeast, PA. She is a great mom to two young boys, has worked in special education for over 20 years, and is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet.

Eleven years ago Jess was diagnosed with an Oligodendroglioma brain tumor. She had surgery immediately following the diagnosis and routine MRI’s after that. Years of clear scans came to an end in October 2020 when an MRI revealed the tumor had returned as a Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. Through surgery, doctors were able to remove most of the tumor. Over a year of radiation & chemotherapy treatments followed.  Her routine scans have been looking great and she is proud to say she is a brain cancer survivor!

Jess takes part every year in the Race for Hope Philadelphia with many of her family and friends on her team “Jess’s Brain Trainers”.  This past May, Jess also took part in Head to the Hill in Washington, DC with the National Brain Tumor Society to advocate for the brain tumor community.

We are uniting with others to make a difference in the fight against brain tumors! The National Brain Tumor Society is committed to defeating brain tumors and improving the quality of patients’ lives. We need your help in this fight!

Jess would love for you to join her team and help support the brain tumor community!
