Team Nick
Race for Hope
“Team Nick” is proud to once again participate in Philadelphia’s Race for Hope to honor our son, brother and friend, Nick Marchione. We have had such an overwhelming response in the last two years that we plan to continue to raise funds for the Brain Tumor Foundation annually.
Nick was diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2016 at the age of 30, and while the diagnosis was truly devastating, he continued to live his life as he always had, with fun, family, and friends, front and center. He was truly an inspiration to anyone who knew him.
Nick never took for granted the fact that he lived in Philadelphia where he had access to the latest cancer treatments and where he would receive excellent care from physicians and staff at Penn Medicine’s Brain Tumor Center. He always held out hope that he might live to benefit from new therapies and he never wavered in his optimism, sense of humor, and quiet courage, which gave everyone who cared for him the strength to battle this cancer with him. Nick died in December of 2020 after battling brain cancer for 4 1/2 years. Quitting was not in Nick's dictionary, it was not an option, and he fought until the end. “Team Nick” plans to channel that same energy and spirit into this year’s event. As a tribute to the great man Nick was, “Team Nick” is honored to support ongoing research and the many services that the National Brain Tumor Society provides for patients and families across the country.
National Brain Tumor Society is fiercely committed to finding a cure for brain tumors. They are aggressively driving strategic research and advocating for public policies that meet the critical needs of the brain tumor community. Your support ensures this important work will continue.
