For 10-15 years, there was a tumor stealthily growing in my brain, hidden from the world and I was none the wiser.  For 18 days, I was keenly aware there was a tumor inhabiting my brain, and couldn’t think about much else.  On September 1, 2022, Dr O’Rourke and his amazing team at Penn were kind enough and skilled enough to evict said tumor from its comfy resting spot, and I was able to focus instead on recovery.  Now I spend my days with the knowledge that while the tumor is gone, there are always trace amounts that remain, which will one day grow back.  My hope is that when that day comes, medical science has advanced enough that they can just flip a switch and turn off the tumor, or maybe blast it to smithereens with a ray gun, keeping my brain nicely intact.  

I’m fundraising for the brain tumor society so that one day, everyone with a brain tumor can enjoy their life with no end date in sight.
