Welcome to My Personal Page
It's hard to believe the FIFTH ANNUAL Sacramento Brain Freeze is happening! The program is virtual again this year, due to the often immunocompromised nature of the brain tumor community for those in treatment.
Since April 2020, I have been taking a drug that's not yet FDA approved to treat brain cancer (but that's in clinical trials and showing very promising outcomes!) called Tibsovo. Tibsovo is FDA approved to treat acute myeloid leukemia as an IDH-1 inhibitor drug. It targets the IDH-1 mutation and inhibits its cell division and multiplication, thus inhibiting growth. I am thrilled to report this drug has kept me stable since I began treatment last year, however having exhausted all FDA-approved options at the age of 30 means one thing: we need more options - drugs, devices, therapies and ways to intervene and stop the cancer progression. This is what you're supporting when you donate to the Sacramento Brain Freeze!
It's imperative to note that I have had the opportunity to fight this disease and so far, I've been rewarded handsomely with months of stability and time to use my body, love my people, and enjoy life. Many others with this disease don't have that chance and that's not lost on me, not for one moment of one day.
National Brain Tumor Society is fiercely committed to finding a cure for brain tumors. They are aggressively driving strategic research and advocating for public policies that meet the critical needs of the brain tumor community. Your support ensures this important work will continue.
