This is my story:
In August of 2019, I was hit by a semi-truck as I was driving home for lunch. Subsequent issues and tests for what we thought were accident-related issues revealed that I had a brain tumor. In January 2020, I had my first surgery to remove this brain tumor. After the surgery, the tumor was classified as a grade 2/3 diffuse astrocytoma. 1 year later the tumor returned.
I underwent my second craniotomy/tumor resection in January 2023. This was followed by 7 weeks of daily radiation. I am currently receiving chemotherapy, with the plan to finish early 2024. We are so grateful for my neurosurgery team and my neuro-oncology team. However, more research is needed to help find a cure.
National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) unrelentingly invests in, mobilizes, and unites the brain tumor community to discover a cure, deliver effective treatments, and advocate for patients and caregivers.
Building on over 30 years of experience, the National Brain Tumor Society is the largest patient advocacy organization in the United States committed to curing brain tumors and improving the lives of patients and families. With thousands beside us, our collective voices and actions are a powerful force for progress.
Please make a gift today, and together we can defeat brain tumors— once and for all.
