Hello! Thank you for your interest in 'Every Step for Peggy' and our mission to raise awareness for the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) and the Appalachian Trail in memory of Peggy Lebonitte.

First off, my name is Julia. =) Peggy was my mother. She passed away in 2014 from brain tumors though she suffered from many illnesses for most of her life. My mom was a very special lady. Her quiet kindness could shake you awake from any of life's distractions. She was selfless no matter how hard life was on her and you would never know when it was. Peggy had a knack for living life to the fullest while sweetly bringing you along with her. She was a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt, a friend, and a lovely acquaintance if that was all time allowed. Simply put... I am so blessed to have had a mother that taught me true, unconditional love with open arms and an open heart. Heaven is lucky to have her; for while living she made a heaven on earth.

I struggled after my mama passed, I felt the need to put more loving energy into her departure. At first I felt a very strong urge to pack up my backpack and head to Georgia to start the Appalachian Trail, leaving all behind in an, I'm sure, overly dramatized exit. But, after some thinking... or... watching T.V. for too many days... I thought of doing a fundraiser in Peggy's name, did some research... and BAM, SO EXCITED! I have an entire year to raise awareness for the NBTS and the Appalachian Trail? An entire year to network online and MAKE THIS BIG?!?..... Very cool.

So! After a year of working selflessly, making connections, and living life to the fullest, I will be hiking the Appalachian Trail with my partner, Kevin Dunne on March 17, 2016... Georgia to Maine! 2,200 miles for Peggy!
